What’s on in Merano
Merano attracts scores of visitors in every season, and not just for its landscape. A wealth of concerts, theatre shows, festivals and sporting events are organised throughout the year. In addition to the events, there are also permanent attractions to round off the offer. These include numerous museums, the town’s theatres, the Merano Art Gallery, the East-West Club, the Kurhaus hall and the Merano racecourse. Thanks to the mild climate the area is blessed with, many events can take place outdoor from spring to autumn. Enjoy your stay!
The Merano Christmas market, with its many colourful stands and diverse programme, dips the town centre in a magical festive atmosphere from the end of November until 6 January. At the end of April, the town celebrates spring with the Merano Flower Festival. In June, world-renowned artists and musicians offer entertainment for the whole family during the Asfaltart street art festival. Merano’s balmy summer evenings are made even more interesting by the long Tuesday nights, when the town centre becomes alive with gastronomic stands and live music. In July, the Maia Music Festival on the Merano racecourse and the World Music Festival at Trauttmansdorff Castle provide first-class music entertainment. Speaking of music: if you love classical music, the renowned Südtirol Festival Merano.Meran in August and September is an event you should not miss. The Merano Grape Festival at the end of October is the longest-running harvest festival in South Tyrol, and never fails to attract throngs of visitors from far and near, while the Merano Wine Festival in November is THE event for wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs.
